Vogue Features Crested Butte and Bluebird Office in Article
Crested Butte was recently featured in an article on Vogue.com written by Mallory Farrugia, titled “Why Crested Butte, Colorado Should Be Your Next Ski Destination”. The article featured a few highlights of our ski resort and end-of-the-road town and explains how Vail Resort’s newest acquisition is one you should not miss.
Starting off with the history of Crested Butte, Farrugia quickly transitions into explaining the Vail purchase of CB. “Vail’s purchase promised an infusion of capital that the mountain needed—a promise the company is already making good on by replacing the decrepit Teocalli lift for the 2019-2020 season”, she states.
Farrugia interviews a few local business owners about the acquisition and how it has impacted their businesses, and across the board it looks like a positive outlook. Natalie Phillips, of Sunflower, states “The mountain brings so much joy to so many people. Anyone who is able to keep that mountain operating has my gratitude.”
Farrugia explains that Vail Resorts also brings a new variety and influx of visitors to the mountain. “John Leonardi, chef and proprietor-owner of Crested Butte’s fine dining landmark Soupçon, is happy to see a broader array of area codes calling for reservations. ‘In the last year, we’ve seen more of the state come further west,’ he says, noting an increase of patrons from Denver. ‘We still have the long timers from Texas, Oklahoma, California, and the front range [of Colorado], and now we’re seeing new faces—which isn’t a bad thing. I’m really excited to see what Vail will bring.’”
The article features some beautiful photography of the resort and some establishments in town, with Bluebird’s centrally-located office and amazing views making a cameo in two shots!
