Business in the Front, Party in the Back: Bird to Bird 2026
The 2026 Second Annual Bird to Bird Ride was an incredible success and another unforgettable day of community, adventure, and giving back. Held once again on the final stage of the Tour de France and featuring a new reverse route from last year's event the sold-out ride welcomed cyclists from across the Gunnison Valley and beyond. This year's event sold out, and thanks to the enthusiasm of our participants, volunteers, and sponsors, everything ran smoothly from start to finish.
Riders gathered at Bluebird Real Estate's Crested Butte office for coffee and doughnuts before setting off on the scenic 37-mile journey over Ohio Pass to Gunnison, one of the most beautiful valleys in all of Colorado. Steady smiles celebrated the trails and landscapes that make our valley such a special place to live and recreate. The ride concluded at Bluebird's Gunnison office, where participants enjoyed pizza, refreshments, and a well-earned celebration on the back patio. In honor of American Tour de France rider Quinn Simmons and his signature mullet, organizers joked that the day was all about "business in the front, party in the back." Kidding aside and most importantly, every participant completed the ride safely, making it a fun and successful day for all involved.
Beyond the ride itself, Bird to Bird continues to fulfill its mission of connecting communities while supporting the trail systems that make the Gunnison Valley such a remarkable place to live and ride. Founded by Bluebird Real Estate, the event raises funds for Gunnison Trails and the Crested Butte Mountain Bike Association, helping support trail maintenance, advocacy, and future improvements throughout the valley.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all our riders, staff and volunteers. Our sponsors are instrumental to the ride’s viability, and much appreciation goes out to Fast Fred Seipp (who also served as moto support), Grace Fienberg and Paul Mack, Lupine Designs, the McNeill family, Black Dragon Development, The Beckwith, Benchmark Mortgage and SHM Architects. Our community partners, the Gunnison Gravel Club, Big Al’s Bicycles and Double Shot Cyclery (who also served as SAG and sweep support) continue to play an invaluable role in the success of Bird to Bird. Finally, we sincerely appreciate the Towns of Crested Butte and Gunnison, Gunnison County, the U.S. Forest Service, local EMS agencies, and the Colorado State Patrol for their guidance, permitting assistance, and support in helping ensure a safe and successful event.
We look forward to bringing the B2B back and we will see you next year!
