Bluebird Floats the Big Duck for Rotary

The Crested Butte Rotary Club just celebrated the 30thanniversary of its Rubber Duckie Race. Roughly, $60,000 dollars is raised each year in support of student scholarships and local charities. To commemorate the landmark anniversary, the Club added a new sponsor race which preceded the 5200 rubber duckies, called the Big Duck Race. The corporate sponsors personalized and decorated their oversized rubber ducks which paraded down the same course through downtown Crested Butte in Coal Creek.

Bluebird sponsored the event with travel mugs and contributed a big duck, Mr. Beanie, customized in Bluebird blue with a Bluebird beanie hat by Parker LaDue, Bluebird’s Marketing Coordinator. Mr. Beanie finished with a smile, upright and on course in the top 5 places.

Bluebird’s Principal, Bud Bush is the current President of the Crested Butte Rotary. This is Bud’s second time to serve as a Rotary club president, having led the Preston Center Rotary in Dallas ten years ago. Rotary is an international service organization founded in 1905, with over 35,000 clubs worldwide. Rotary’s mission is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders. The Rotary motto is “service above self.”
